Death notice, The Rochester News-Sentinel, February 15, 1926: Mrs. Samuel PONTIOUS, age 85, of Akron, was found dead of heart failure in a chair at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William LINEBAUGHof Akron, Saturday morning. The elderly lady apparently had gotten up from bed in the night, to sit up a while, and passed away at a renewed attack of the ailment. The husband, the daughter, Mrs. LINEBAUGH, and a son, Warren PONTIOUS of Ohio, survive. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Highland church, south of Akron.
