The Portland Oregonian, January 26, 1907: Prominent Sellwood Churchwoman Victim of Pneumonia.
Mrs. Johanna Jantzen Vreeland, wife of Thad W. Vreeland, died at her home, 210 Sellwood street, Albina, Thursday night, after a brief illness of pneumonia. She was taken ill a week ago, but her condition was not considered serious. Even on Thursday her recovery was confidently expected and her relatives were not alarmed. Mrs. Vreeland was a native of Denmark, and was but 25 years of age. She was married to Mr. Vreeland seven years ago. Three children are left motherless. Mrs. Vreeland was a member of the Forbes Presbyterian Church, and she had a wide circle of friends on the East Side who appreciated her womanly qualities and lovable traits. Besides husband and children, Mrs. Vreeland leaves her mother, Mrs. Mary Jantzen, Henry and Carl, brothers, and Misses Margaret and Agness Jantzen, sisters, of Hood River, Or. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the Forbes Presbyterian Church, Upper Albina, followed by services at the Portland Crematorium. - [S9] 1900 United States Federal Census, https://www.myheritage.com/research/record-10131-43633265/johanna-vreeland-in-1900-united-states-federal-census (Reliability: 4).
