Nelson, 86, of Clearfield went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Clearfield Hospital. He was born July 3, 1926, at Clearfield, a son of the late Ai and Pearl (Miller) Nelson. Mr. Nelson retired from Kurtz Brothers Co. after 39 years of service. After he retired, he repaired and remodeled several houses in the area. Mr. Nelson enjoyed sports, especially baseball and hunting, and liked going camping with his friends and family. Mr. Nelson was an active member and deacon of the Riverview Bible Church, Clearfield. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth L. "Betty" (Lansberry) Nelson, whom he wed June 17, 1950, at Clearfield; two sons, K. Craig Nelson and his fiancée, Linda Barba, of Shawville and Mark A. Nelson and his wife, Jenny, of Fairfield, Ohio; two grandchildren, Mark Ryan Nelson and Isabella Nelson, both of Ohio; three sisters, Carol Catherman and her husband, James, Ruth Bock and her husband, William, and Shirley Lansberry, all of Clearfield; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Eldon, Richard, Sherman and Willard Nelson; and two sisters, Jane Shugarts and Ella Mae Lindvall. Funeral services will be held at Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, on Saturday, June 29, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Mark Eveleth officiating. Interment will be at Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde. Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday, June 28, from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, June, 29, from 10-11 a.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Nathaniel D. Yingling, M.D., Cancer Center, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield, PA 16830; or Riverview Bible Church, 1107 Riverview Road, Clearfield PA 16830.
