      Death notice in the Canton (OH) Repository, March 30, 2017: Richard Earl Ramsey, 92, formerly of North Canton, passed away March 23, 2017, at Cincinnati's Bethesda North Hospital after a brief illness. The eldest son of Pearl and Hattie Ellen Fulton Ramsey, he was born and raised in Canton, graduating from McKinley High School in 1942. He later received an A.S. in Engineering from University of Akron. In World War II, the Navy sent Mr. Ramsey to Hawaii, where he experienced the thrill of flight as a pilot and air traffic controller. After the war, he returned to Stark County and worked forTimken Roller Bearing Company for 40 years. Music was a major part of Mr. Ramsey's life. A frequent vocal soloist at weddings and church services, he also was part of a men's quartet. And for many years, he directed the choir at Canton Grace Brethren Church, where he also taught Sunday School. Mr. Ramsey -- who enjoyed travel, good food, and the outdoors -- spent his final years at The Lodge Retirement Community in Loveland. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and John, and his wife of 64 years, Virginia Lois Lesh Ramsey. He is survived by his three children: Ann Ramsey-Moor (Andrew) of Ellicott City, MD; Nancy Kennedy (David) of Colorado Springs, CO; and Rev. Dan Ramsey (Denise) of Loveland, OH; seven granddaughters; and 16 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be from 5 -7 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, at Canton Grace Brethren Church, 6283 Market Avenue N., North Canton. A funeral service will be held at the church at 10 am Monday, April 3.
