Obituary in the Alliance (OH) Review, Thursday, April 17, 2008: Robert B. Ruthrauff, age 81, of 11100 Stratton Road, Salem, and formerly of 11860 Middletown Road, Salem, died at 11:05 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, at Salem Community Hospital. He was born on July 29, 1926, in Hartville and was the son of the late Harold and Minnie (Frederick) Ruthrauff. Mr. Ruthrauff had been a dairy farmer in the area for many years and a member of the Mahoning County Farm Bureau. He was a family exhibitor of Holstein cattle at the Canfield Fair for 50 years. He was a member of Salem First Friends Church and the Encouragers Sunday School Class. Mr. Ruthrauff was a 1944 graduate of Hartville High School and had served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a fireman and on the Land and Sea Rescue Team. Survivors include his wife, Olive "Jane" (Emery) Ruthrauff, whom he married April 21, 1948; two sons, Gregg (Mary Catherine) Ruthrauff of Salem and Brian (Karen) Ruthrauff of Salem; two daughters, Roberta (David) Graham of North Jackson and Sheryl (Jeff) Hoopes of Homeworth; a brother, Glenn Ruthrauff of Akron; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was a brother, Harry Ruthrauff. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Salem First Friends Church. Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday at Stark Memorial Funeral Home. Full military honors at the cemetery will be provided by Salem V.F.W. Post #892 and the Salem AMVETS Post #45 Burial Group.
